Five hundred products. No story.

Scentivore had a robust fragrance catalog but zero narrative. I spent 11 months transforming a technical product database into a sensory brand experience. The result: 500 products with emotion-driven descriptions and a cohesive brand voice across all platforms.

01 — The situation

Scentivore sells fragrance oils, waxes, and bases to makers: hobbyists, candle brands, soap makers, perfumers. Their product range was solid. Their prices were competitive. But their website felt like a supplier catalog, not a brand.

Over 500 SKUs with no descriptions. No voice. No emotional connection. Just specs.

Customers visiting Scentivore didn't feel like they were joining a community of makers. They felt like they were shopping at a warehouse.

02 — The real challenge

This wasn't a copywriting job. It was a brand problem.

Fragrance is inherently emotional. People don't buy "warm vanilla base" - they buy comfort, nostalgia, warmth. But Scentivore's catalog was treating fragrance like industrial supplies. The experience was transactional. The opportunity was to make it personal.

03 — What we built

I approached this as an 11-month brand transformation, not a batch copywriting project.

The voice. I developed Scentivore's brand voice: warm, sensory, maker-focused. Not vendor language. Not corporate. The voice of someone who understands what makers need: not just ingredients, but inspiration.

The product system. I wrote 500 narrative product descriptions over 11 months. Four to five lines each. Every description captured the emotion and essence of the fragrance, optimized for clarity and SEO. Each one felt like it came from the same brand voice.

Each fragrance became a mood, a moment, a character. Warm vanilla base became "The scent that makes you pause. Comfort in a bottle." Not a spec sheet. A story.

The platform. I refined the Shopify experience. Better product discovery. Better browsing flow. Better sensory language throughout. The site went from feeling like a catalog to feeling like a destination.

The campaigns. I built email campaigns and social content strategy using the same voice. Every touchpoint felt cohesive: website, Instagram, Pinterest, email.

04 — What changed

Before, Scentivore was 500 products with generic or missing descriptions. The website felt technical and impersonal. There was no cohesive brand voice. Customers browsed like they were at a supplier catalog: functional, but forgettable.

After, each product told a story. The voice was consistent across all platforms. The emails got opened. Customers engaged with a brand, not just bought supplies.

06 — The outcome

Scentivore transformed from a product catalog into a sensory brand.

The business didn't just sell fragrance. It inspired creation.
